The glamorous first chapter
The beautiful Art Deco buildings of Piccadilly Theatre and Arcade were constructed in 1938 for mining investor, Claude de Bernales. In it's former life, the foyers were decorated with red and gold roses, pink gladioli and varicoloured dahlias with the ladies’ boudoir particularly praised, being full of mirrors, lounge chairs, smokers’ stands and toilet requisites.
In 2013, after a portion of the cinema’s roof collapsed due to poor maintenance the cinema and arcade were closed. 19th November 2021, after a huge investment in it's restoration the arcade has finally reopened its doors with the theatre due to reopen in the new year.
