I’m thrilled to share that art therapy with me is now available through Art of Therapy –my new therapeutic practice offering art therapy to support adult clients through individual sessions, telehealth, as well as therapeutic groups.

In case you're wondering – no, Charcoal and Champagne is NOT changing! It will continue to offer the same fun, award-winning and empowering workshop experiences we have done for years.

Art of Therapy however offers a separate way of working with me for those who would like to explore their experiences more deeply within a confidential, professionally boundaried therapeutic relationship.

You can now engage with me initially via a:

  • FREE discovery call – an obligation-free chat to answer all your questions and ensure we are a good fit

And if we are a good fit ... we can work together through;

  • One-to-one (in-person) creative art therapy

  • Telehealth (online) creative art therapy

  • Group art therapy (in-person) – you can register your interest

Using metaphor and symbolism can be a safe way for clients to express and communicate memories or stories during an Art of Therapy art therapy session.

Curious – but not sure if Art Therapy is for you?

I invite you to take advantage of the 15-20 minute FREE discovery phone call.

These are intended to provide you with an opportunity to ask questions, share what you are looking for and explore whether creative arts therapy with me is the right fit – for both of us.

The call is confidential, complimentary and completely obligation-free.

** Please note the discovery call is not a therapy session, but an introductory conversation prior to booking an initial consultation.

What brought me here?

If you’ve met me through Charcoal and Champagne, you may have already noticed – the aim of my workshops and the experience I strive to give people, has never been about 'just drawing'.

The workshops have always been intentionally social, relaxed and playful – but they have also been motivated by a deeper interest in empowering people ... in wanting to create opportunities for individuals to 'let go' of all that 'stuff' they carry in their heads ... and a place where they feel safe enough to allow themselves to create unapologetically.

What resulted, has been truly joyful for me –  seeing people who haven’t drawn in years — or who, for whatever reason, have come to believe they’re not creative at all — light up as they begin to reconnect with themselves, each other and their own creative voice – often in ways they didn’t expect.

And yet – I've always known that there is much more potential to the healing impact that creative expression can have on people.

That curiosity was what led me to pursue my Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy at Murdoch, where as part of my clinical training, I completed placements at Caladenia Clinic, where I worked one-to-one with young people and adults – and at Perth Clinic, where I facilitated art therapy groups with acute in– and out–patients within a clinical setting.

Also, as part of the Masters, my Thesis, also provided me with a unique and incredible opportunity to run an "arts-based research study exploring self-perception and body image through charcoal life-drawing with a group of non-artist women" – a passion project informed and inspired by the decade of running life-drawing workshops, often for non-artistic women through Charcoal and Champagne, which I am working towards publishing and developing into art therapy group programs with women (you can register your interest in these).

Now as an ANZACATA registered Creative Arts Therapist, alongside Charcoal and Champagne – I am offering creative arts therapy for adults, including individual sessions (in-person and via telehealth) and women’s group programs via my new platform –  Art of Therapy

Yes, but what is Art Therapy I hear you ask?

People seek art therapy for many different reasons. It may offer support when you are navigating anxiety, stress or overwhelm; grief and loss; difficult or traumatic experiences; relationship challenges; major life changes; or concerns relating to identity, self-esteem and body image. You do not need to have a diagnosis, be in crisis or know exactly what you want to talk about – we can begin with what is happening for you and what you would like to explore.

Art therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that uses creative processes – including visual art, movement, writing, drama, music and metaphor or symbolism – to support emotional wellbeing, self-understanding and psychological change. It is grounded in the understanding that human experience is communicated not only through words, but also through the body, imagination, sensation, memory and images.

Unlike approaches that rely primarily on conversation, creative arts therapy recognises that some experiences are difficult to verbalise. Trauma, grief, anxiety and relational wounds are often experienced somatically and emotionally before they can be organised into language. Creative processes offer another pathway into these experiences through image, movement, metaphor and sensory engagement.

Importantly, the focus is not artistic skill or aesthetic outcome – which make it suitable for all levels experience – including those with no creative or artistic experience.

The therapeutic value lies in the process of creating itself – the understanding that the creative process can itself support reflection, regulation, insight and transformation.

Creative arts therapy is also increasingly informed by neuroscience, trauma theory and embodiment research. Contemporary literature describes how creative engagement may support emotion regulation, sensory integration and access to experiences that exist beyond verbal cognition.

Obligation free invitation for you to ask your questions

Finding the right person to help you during challenging times can be terrifying and overwhelming. This is why it is important for you to know that there is absolutely no pressure or expectation of you to go beyond a chat with me during a Discovery Call.

The therapeutic relationship with your therapist – whoever you choose to work with is a huge part of your road to recovery and it cannot be forced.

The Discovery Call is designed to be a safe way for you and I to explore if we are a good fit before you decide if you wish to continue.

If you or someone you know might benefit from working with me, feel free to get in touch.
